Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines attraction as “a force acting mutually between particles of matter, tending to draw them together, and resisting their separation.”

When it comes to human attraction, it should come as no surprise that men are attracted to certain characteristics and behaviors in women without even realizing it.

Though it’s impossible to generalize a list of features that all men find attractive in a woman, there are a few that stick out.

Confidence. Men seem to sense it when a woman is comfortable in her own skin, regardless of her size, body type, or skn color. In other words, to be the most appealing to the opposite sex amounts to being happy with yourself and placing your authentic self above trends or other people’s opinions.

Sense of humor. Being able to laugh and have fun can be an important part of any relationship. It may also promote feelings of closeness that might not be found in any other relationship. In fact, being able to laugh at oneself might even be one of the most attractive traits of all.

Adventurous spirit. Some men are more attracted to women who take risks and are willing to try new things. Though this doesn’t apply to all men, there are guys who enjoy getting outside and might like a woman that enjoys things like hiking, mountain climbing, paddle boarding, and surfing.

Healthy Appearance. More than simply a fit body, a pretty face, or a bright smile, a healthy appearance is also the steps a woman takes to care for herself. A woman who works hard at the gym can be more attractive than a skinny chick who wears a size zero without trying, for example. One who eats a healthy diet may mean more to some men than an emaciated figure.

Honesty and openness. Being honest can be crucial in any relationship as is the ability to communicate feelings openly.

Intelligence. Not just about having advanced degrees or a high IQ, intelligence may involve being knowledgeable about politics and other worldly events, an ability to hold a meaningful conversation, and a desire to learn.

Physical traits. There are physical traits that are sometimes beyond a woman’s control, such as body type, height, and breast size, and believe it or not, the thickness of one’s eyebrows. These are all characteristics some men deem highly important when choosing a partner.

Do Gentlemen Prefer Thick Eyebrows?

An interesting result emerged from a study published in Frontiers in Psychology that revealed that men find bushy brows more attractive than other brow thicknesses. The study, conducted at Oakland University in Michigan,  asked 1000 men and women to rate a series of images to study which facial features they found to be most attractive. Some results of the study, like a softer jawbone being more attractive for women and a more well-defined, strong jawline being more attractive for men, were expected.

But when it came to men’s preferences in the thickness of a woman’s brow, scientists found that women with thicker eyebrows were  perceived as being more attractive to men than those with thinner brows.

Dr. Lisa Welling, the author of the study, noted that “it could be that relatively thicker eyebrows signal other qualities, such as a tendency towards more grooming.”

Why are eyebrows important?

There are evolutionary reasons behind the preference for one brow over another. A key identifier for one’s face, the shape of one’s eyebrows is typically one of the first features of your face that others notice.

What’s Behind the Bushy Brow Craze?

The popularity of thicker eyebrows came at the heels of the ’90s super-thin arches, doing a complete 180 degree turn. People went from over plucking their brows to desperately searching for a way to grow them back. Enter an army of eyebrow gels, pencils, pens, powders, and pomades storming store shelves.

To accelerate the bushy brow trend even more, Tik Tok and YouTube tutorials by the thousands began showing up revealing how to get the perfect Insta-brow.

Are Thick Eyebrows For You?

Like chocolate and vanilla, the traits a man finds attractive in a woman are as individual as the man himself. Some men might prefer a woman with red hair, while other gentlemen, as they say, prefer blondes.  So, if thick eyebrows are something you’d like to try, but you weren’t blessed to be born with them, there are new treatments available to help even the thinnest eyebrows look luscious, lovely, thick, and voluminous.

If you’re hoping to adjust your looks to fit the wants of someone else, it might help to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all for being an attractive woman.  So, rather than trying to fit into someone else’s box, just being your true authentic self, creating your own box, is probably the most attractive trait of all.

Bushy Brow Boosters – Microblading vs. Brow Lamination

The two most popular brow boosting treatments, microblading and brow lamination, are game changers in the beauty industry.  Though they have certain similarities,  they are quite different in terms of their methods,  longevity, and cost.

Brow Lamination

Brow lamination is a great option for anyone looking to enhance the appearance of their eyebrows without the commitment of more invasive or permanent procedures. Brow lamination involves the use of a chemical solution to reshape and set eyebrow hairs in place, creating a fuller, more defined look.

The brow lamination process typically involves three steps: applying a lifting solution to straighten the hairs, applying a setting solution to keep them in place, and finally applying a nourishing serum to condition and protect the brows. Unlike micro blading which can last up to 18 months or longer, brow lamination typically lasts  up to 6 weeks but can vary depending on the individual’s hair growth cycle.

Microblading

Microblading is a semi-permanent treatment that involves creating hair-like strokes to mimic natural brow hairs. Unlike brow lamination, micro bladed brows can be a great solution for people with thin and sparse brows.

During the microblading process, a brow expert maps out the desired shape of the brows, taking into account the client’s natural brow shape and facial features. Then, a sterile, disposable microblading tool is used to create small, hair-like strokes in the skin’s uppermost epidermis layer using a specialized pigment. Though microblading is a longer lasting technique than brow lamination, lasting up to two years, it requires a longer recovery. Following microblading, it is important to follow your brow artist’s aftercare instructions.

Which Treatment is Better for Me

Which Treatment is Better for Me?

Brow lamination and microblading are both highly effective brow enhancement trends that have been experiencing rising popularity in recent years. Choosing brow lamination or microblading is a personal choice that should be made only after conducting some of your own research and exploration. If you’re looking to enhance your looks and save time in the morning, both brow lamination and microblading are great options.

Brow lamination is a non-invasive, temporary solution for achieving fuller, more defined brows, while microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique that can create long-lasting, natural-looking results.

The choice between the two ultimately depends on individual preferences, goals, and budget.

Take Away

When it comes to the laws of attraction, it might come as no surprise that men are drawn to certain characteristics in women like fuller butts, a great smile, and bushier brows.

Though it seems that the current trend for attractiveness when it comes to eyebrows is the thicker version, what truly matters most is  what makes you feel the most comfortable inside.

First of all, what is eyebrow lamination?

Thanks to a fabulous new brow lamination treatment, impeccably styled eyebrows are just as attainable as beautiful designed hair. While many people describe it as a brow hair perm, (similar to soap brows and a lash lift) brow lamination is a non-invasive and pain free brow enhancement treatment that will do everything from trim and tidy your brows to completely transform them, creating the beautiful face frame you’ve always dreamed of, is simple, painless, and affordable.

If you’ve never heard of brow lamination, this article is for you! Brow lamination is an eyebrow treatment  that softens and repositions your natural brow hairs to create a fuller, thicker, smoother, and natural look with very little maintenance required.

What To Expect During a Brow Lamination Treatment

The whole brow lamination process, which takes around 40-50 min, begins with the brow stylist cleaning the eyebrows. Similar to a brow perm, brow lamination is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment, performed by a brow expert, that involves applying a chemical solution to the natural brows to reshape the brow area and setting the eyebrow hairs in an upward position. Similar to a lash lift, brow lamination permanently sets the brow hairs, and ultimately reimages the frame of your face.

By chemically breaking down the bonds in the eyebrow hairs, allowing them to be reshaped and set in a new direction, brow lamination leave the brows looking fuller, with a more defined shape that lasts for up to 8 weeks. The process is painless and typically takes less than an hour.

It’s worth noting that brow lamination is not suitable for everyone, and it’s important to consult with a trained brow expert before undergoing the treatment.

Does brow lamination hurt?

Brow lamination is a non-invasive procedure that, unlike micro blading, is completely pain free.

How do I keep my brows in shape after brow lamination?

Steps to Follow Before and After Eyebrow Lamination Appointment

Now that you’ve made the decision to have your natural brows laminated, the next important step is to maintain them. To maintain beautifully laminated brows, following the correct aftercare is critical. Our easy-to-follow brow lamination before and aftercare tips will ensure that you get the very best results everytime, and that your brows remain fluffy and full for as long as possible.

As a part of your eyebrow lamination aftercare, it is crucial that you:

  • Avoid getting the brow area wet for 24 hours.

  • Avoid contact with direct sunlight, sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms, and swimming pools for the first 48 hours

  • Avoiding excessive rubbing or touching of the treated area for 24 hours.

We also recommend that you follow these guidelines in the run up to and the days after your treatment:

  • Avoid using exfoliating (AHA, BHA, or scrubs) and anti-ageing skincare around the brow area for three days before and after your treatment.

  • Avoid self-tanning products (including gradual tan) on the face for three days before or after your treatment as it can discolour the eyebrow tint.

  • Your stylist may apply some make up at the end of your treatment, however you should avoid applying any further heavy make up (foundations, etc) on the area around the brow for 24 hours.

Brow Lamination Before Care

Prior to your brow lamination appointment, we recommend that you follow these steps:

  • Avoiding exfoliants, retinoids, or AHAs on your face for at least a week prior to your brow lamination treatment.

  • After brow lamination, avoid tweezing for at least one week before your appointment.

  • Arrive at your appointment without any makeup on your eyes or face.

Brow Lamination Aftercare

For the first 24 hours after your brow lamination treatment:

DON’T get your eyebrows wet (this includes bathing, showering, washing your face swimming, sweating, and any other activity that involves water.)

DON’T use a sauna.

DON’T use oil based products.

DON’T apply heavy creams, makeup, or makeup remover to your brows.

DON’T lay directly on your brows or sleep on your stomach.

Why it’s important not to get your brows wet after eyebrow lamination treatment

Probably the most important thing after brow lamination is not to get your eyebrows wet. Similar to a lash lift, keeping your brows dry for the 24 hours following your lamination treatment is very important. During the lamination process, we use an assortment of creams as well as a permanent gel to relax and shape your brows. If you get your eyebrows wet too soon after we finish applying these products, your brows do not have a chance to set with their new shape.

The main reason you must not get your brows wet within 24 hours of your treatment is that contact of water can affect the lamination procedure and affect the durability of the treated surface. In addition to avoiding washing your face, you should also refrain from swimming, taking a sauna, or entering a steam bath for the first full day following treatment.

How long does a brow lamination last?

A brow lamination will last about 6 to 8 weeks, provided that the appropriate aftercare steps are taken. The length of of tie your laminated brows will last can range from 3 to 8 weeks, depending on your growth pattern. Be sure to follow the “DON’TS” mentioned above for the first 24 hours following your treatment for longevity sake. In the 48 hours following your treatment, we do suggest applying a hydrating balm or a castor oil to your brows daily. We also recommend brushing your brows in an upright/styled position anytime following a shower (or after getting your brows wet) to help keep their new shape.

Can I wear makeup after brow lamination?

Though your brow stylist may use makeup during the procedure, we strongly advise that you avoid applying heavy makeup around the brows for at least 24 hours.

Well-defined and perfectly shaped eyebrows help elevate your style and add definition to your eyes. From high-arched and thin to full and feathery, or somewhere in between, Hollywood celebs like Kim K, Cara Delevigne, and Rihanna are rocking fabulous brow looks like never before.

Even before the days of influencers, Hollywood stars have long been a source of inspiration for beauty trends. From Cher’s wild wings and Brooke Shields’ bushy brows to Hepburn’s winged eyeliner and Twiggy’s exaggerated lashes, Tinseltown has been setting  the pace for what’s hot and what’s not for decades.

When it comes  to brow style in 2023,  the rule books have been tossed. Unlike the brow boom of  past decades, today it’s all about staying true and authentic to who you are, being comfortable with your own facial attributes, and choosing what kind of brow is best for you.

Hollywood’s Best Brows Having a Born-this-Way Moment

Duplicating your favorite celebrity’s brows is easier than ever with services available to achieve just about any look. From brow lamination to microblading, there’s a treatment for any budget, lifestyle, and look.

Though it might be tempting to try to pull a DIY and attempt to recreate these looks on your own, brow enhancement, like hair coloring and lash treatments, is usually best when left to the professionals. Use this article      for inspiration to help you find the style that suits you best.  When you do, we suggest that you take a screenshot and bring it with you to your next appointment.

Celebs Having a “Born this Way” Brow Movement

Brows are the frame of the face and changing the thickness, arch, color,  or shape of the brow can have a dramatic effect on your overall look. Not only can some shapes have an anti-ageing effect, but the height of the arch and thickness of the brow can change your look from elegant to edgy, intense to informal, or over-the-top to au natural.

We’ve come a long way since the super-skinny arches of the ’90s and these days, many celebs are reverting back to their “born this way” brows, trying to regain the shape they were born with.

But after years of over plucking or just years passing by, many of us are left with less or sparse brow hairs that need a lot of help looking like they haven’t been helped at all.

In a time when there’s been a shift—even in the Hollywood land of make believe—from placing an importance on being “in style” to being comfortable in your own skin, celebrity brows are having a “born this way” moment.

Angelina Jolie’s brows

Angelina Jolie’s brows have always had a relatively high arch, but in recent years, the mega star has taken her brow looks down a notch. Joilie’s  brows have gone from ultra thin and intense to natural and casual.  This bushier look can give the face a much more subtle and softer appearance and can even help make you look younger.

Drew Barrymore’s brows

Back in the ’90s, Drew Barrymore was the pioneer of the “shave it and start over” brow trend. These days, Barrymore is sporting a much more casual and natural look with less drama and more sophistication.

At Home Eyebrow Shaping Tips

With so many options, how do you know which look is right for you?  And once you’ve decided, how can you achieve that look at home? Here are a few pointers to help get you pointed in the right direction.

Use Natural Light

Not everyone’s bathroom or dressing area is lit with natural light. Instead of using artificial makeup mirror lights, move your mirror to a place in your home that gets the most natural light. Unlike fluorescent bulbs, natural light allows you to see even the tiniest hairs, which is super important when tweezing.

Just Say “No” to Magnifying Mirrors

Tiny magnifying mirrors only let you see a small portion of your face. Instead, use a mirror that allows you to see your entire face so you gain a broader perspective when styling your brows.

Start With an Outline

Start brow styling by outlining with a sharp pencil then filling in your brows with a powder or filler.

Once your brows are filled in, tweeze what falls outside the outline. This technique ensures you’ll never over pluck again.

Trim, Don’t Cut

The most difficult part of DIY  grooming is the trim. To trim your brows, use  a tiny pair of brow scissors and a flexible brow gel. Start by brushing the hair up towards the hairline and out towards the temple and let it dry completely. Next, use the tiny brow scissors to clip just the ends of the hair that extend past the shape. If you cut the hairs too short, the coarse hairs will stick straight out rather than lay flat.

Tweeze in the Right Direction

The most common mistake people make when tweezing is removing the hair in the wrong direction. Each hair is connected to a tiny blood vessel that keeps it healthy and allows it to grow back when the hair is removed. Once the vessel is ruptured, the hair never returns.

To tweeze properly, hold the skin taut with one finger and then tweeze the hair in the direction it is growing. Typically, that direction is upward or toward the temple rather than straight out.

The Nose Knows

Your nose plays a big part in creating a precise, picture-perfect brow look and helps indicate where they should start. Brows should begin directly above the middle of your nostrils. Brows that are  too far apart or that overlap these points can make the eyes appear wider or too close-set.

Know Where to Arch

Getting the arch in your eyebrow right is extremely important when it comes to defining the overall shape.  The highest point of the arch should connect the middle of the tip of the nose with the middle of the iris. When the arches are too close, the brows seem nonexistent and if they are too far out, it can cause the facial features to be overshadowed by brows.

Avoid overplucking!

As tempting as it may be to grab multiple hairs at one time and yank them out to save time, tweezing one brow hair at a time will help ensure you don’t grab the wrong one and end up with a patch or a hole.

End at the Corners

Your eyebrows should end where the nostril’s corner connects with the eye’s outer corner. Tails that don’t hit this endpoint can look nonexistent and highlight wide-set eyes. An open-ended tail can add more space to the parameter of the face, making it look wider.

Types of Brow Shapes

Kim Kardashian

One of the most popular socialites, models, and celebrities in Hollywood, if not the world, with millions of followers on social media who try to emulate her fashion sense and make-up skills,  Kim K. has also perfected the eyebrow shape. Pioneering the big brow movement almost single handedly, Cara’s were the brows that started it all.Blessed with naturally strong and thick eyebrows, Cara is definitely a trendsetter.  If you’re going  for a sensuous, yet dangerous look, Cara’s brows are the ones to emulate.

Lily Collins

If you’re going for a “Lily look,” but are not genetically blessed with thick brows, brow lamination is a great option for you. Bow lamination helps keep the hair brushed sight up to give the appearance of a bushier brow. If your brow hairs are sparse, consider microblading as an option.

Zendaya

Style and beauty icon, Zendaya, is having a brow-wow moment in 2023. Proving that more can sometimes be more when it comes to eyebrows, Zendaya’s envy-inducing brows are big and beautiful. To achieve Zendaya’s brow look, consider brow lamination.

Margot Robbie

If you’re a blonde like Margot, anything super thick and dark  in the brow department would look unnatural. But somehow this Aussie icon seems to pull it off just right.  By tinting her brows two shades darker than her blonde hair’s shade, Margot’s and by balancing her darker brows with a light and feathery texture,  Margot’s  brows have the perfect balance of natural and knocked-out.

Where are laminated eyebrows available in Australia?

Brow lamination is a popular beauty treatment that is trending all over social media. Also called brow sculpt or brow lift, quickly gained popularity in 2019 in England, eventually making its way to the US late last year. Gaining in popularity in Australia along with another brow trend, microblading, brow lamination was designed to give the illusion of fuller, more defined eyebrows.

What’s the difference between brow lamination and micro blading?

Two popular brow enhancing procedures for improving the appearance of eyebrows, brow lamination and microblading are both trending across social media. And although they have some similarities,  they are also quite different in terms of their cost, maintenance, and longevity.

Microblading is a semi permanent treatment that involves creating hair-like strokes to mimic natural brow hairs using a semipermanent makeup like tattooing. Microblading is a popular option for anyone looking to enhance the appearance of their eyebrows, those looking to create a more perfect eyebrow shape, or those who simply want to save time in their daily makeup routine. Unlike brow lamination, micro bladed brows can be a great solution for people with thin existing eyebrows and sparse brows.

The brow lamination involves straightening and setting the brows into a desired shape using a three-step process that uses a straightening solution, perming solution, and setting lotion. Brows laminations leave brow texture thicker, fuller, and with a fluffy shape. It also leaves the brows looking polished with more volume. Unlike microblading which can last up to 18 months or longer, brow lamination typically lasts  up to eight weeks but can vary depending on the individual’s hair type and growth cycle.

For a deeper dive into micro blading vs. brow lamination, see our blog post, Microblading vs. brow lamination: which is the best solution for me?

What is eyebrow lamination?

Thanks to a new brow lamination treatment that is easily accessible in 2023, impeccably styled eyebrows are just as attainable as beautiful designed hair. Simple, painless, and affordable, and capable of doing everything from trimming and tidying brows to completely transforming them, brow lamination can create the beautiful face frame you’ve always dreamed of.

With no more wasted time applying brow gel, brow pen, pencil, powders, and pomades, brow lamination can help save time in the morning, making your daily routine simpler and easier. And with all of the money you’ll save on the massive mount of products, having your brows laminated can help save you money as well.

What do laminated brows look like?

Laminated eyebrows look straighter, thicker, and smoother, and can be personalized according to your facial shape. It’s also an excellent alternative for anyone who needs help repairing problem eyebrows. If you have sparse hairs, thin brows, or if you’ve plucked your eyebrows to the extreme and they just won’t grow back, brow lamination can leave your brows looking like they have more hair. Laminated brows stay brushed up like a DIY brow soap treatment. The difference is, laminated brows will last for up to two months, whereas a soap treatment only lasts until your next shower.

How Does Eyebrow Lamination Work?

Similar to a brow perm, brow lamination is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment, performed by a brow expert, that involves applying a chemical solution to the natural brows to reshape the brow area and setting the eyebrow hairs in an upward position. Similar to a lash lift, brow lamination permanently sets the brow hairs, and ultimately changes the frame of your face.

Brow lamination works by chemically breaking down the bonds in the eyebrow hairs, allowing them to be reshaped and set in a new direction so lay flat and appear brushed upwards.

The result is a fuller, more defined brow shape that lasts for up to eight weeks. The whole process is painless and typically takes around 30-45 minutes to complete.

What to expect during a brow lamination appointment

  1. Brow hair bonds are broken down with the application of a fixing solution.

  2. The brow artist brush brow hairs upwards and straightens the hairs into the desired position.

  3. The solution is covered with plastic wrap.

  4. A setting solution can be used to re-position the hair bonds to a new shape.

  5. The entire brow lamination process takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?

The length of time your lamination treatment lasts depends upon the individual’s hair growth. Like eyelashes, eyebrows have hair growth cycles. Most people have a 30 day growth cycle. For the most part a lamination will last 6 to 8 weeks.

Just about anyone can have their brows laminated as long as they pass the patch test and do not show any signs of allergies to the solutions. Brow lamination is a great option for anyone looking to enhance the appearance of their eyes by creating bushier, thicker, more voluminous brows without the commitment of more permanent treatments. And since brow lamination is more affordable than other procedures like micro blading or nano blading, it is more accessible to people with lower budgets.
