For patients who want to get rid of stubborn body fat without resorting to plastic surgery, CoolSculpting Newcastle may be the solution you are looking for. Non-invasive fat removal has been growing in popularity for years. New advancements in the field of fat freezing have finally made it possible to remove pockets of fat when diet or exercise have only taken you so far in your weight loss journey. CoolSculpting may also be an option for patients who want to refine and contour small areas of the body after weight loss.

Coolsculpting

What is fat freezing?

CoolSculpting is a medical device that is clinically proven to reduce fat. It works by using cold hand-pieces placed on the skin surface that target and destroy target fat cells. Over the next few months, your body flushes away the dead fat cells naturally. The dead fat is gradually excreted by the liver. Most patients notice visible results within the first three months after treatment. Repeat treatments can be done for even better results and faster fat removal. It’s truly remarkable to see the before and after results from patients who have tried non-invasive fat reduction.

Benefits of fat freezing

Fat freezing with CoolSculpting in Newcastle is an attractive alternative to surgery or liposuction for many reasons. It is a safe, affordable, non-invasive procedure that is the perfect solution for men and women who do not wish to go under the knife. Whether due to the expense, pain and downtime that is associated with cosmetic surgery, there are many reasons why patients are seeking non-invasive alternatives to remove unwanted body fat. There is no need to take time off work, and no need for prescription painkillers. In fact, most patients resume normal activities or go back to work the same day.

CoolSculpting was the leader for more than 10 years, but new technology leaves CoolSculpting in the dust

CoolSculpting has earned a reputation around the world. It’s true that fat freezing technology has changed the way we look at non-surgical fat loss in many ways, opening doors we never thought possible a few decades ago.

However, there is a new revolution in non-invasive fat reduction today. TruSculpt ID, or fat melting. is the preferred treatment for many reasons. TruSculpt ID is vastly superior to CoolSculpting because it uses soothing heat to kill up to 24% of treated fat cells in just two 15-minute sessions. That is much faster and just as effective as CoolSculpting, minus the uncomfortable cold feeling. It’s even TGA and FDA-approved for fat loss. Click here to learn more about TruSculpt ID.

Trusculpt iD the next generation in non invasive fat reduction. FDA & TGA approved for up to 24% reduction in fat. With one 15 min pain free treatment.

CoolSculpting makes reducing body fat easy

It is recommended that patients reach a stable weight prior to CoolSculpting treatments. However, patients with stubborn body fat know that sometimes diet and exercise is not enough. Almost everyone has trouble spots that seem to accumulate fat no matter how hard they try to get rid of it. It is frustrating to see that despite all your hard work, there are some small areas of fat that never seem to fully go away.

With CoolSculpting Newcastle, all you need to do is sit or lie back on a comfortable treatment table and let the technician do all the work. In about one hour or so (depending on the size of the treatment area), you will be out the door and back to your daily life. In just a few short months, the fat will reduce in the target area, giving you the beautiful, slim, smooth body contours you have always wanted — all without lifting a finger or counting calories!

What body parts can CoolSculpting treat?

CoolSculpting is designed to treat a variety of problem areas nearly anywhere on the body. Almost anywhere you can grab a pinch or bulge of fat can be treated. Patients love the versatility of the CoolSculpting device for this reason.

So, which areas of the body can CoolSculpting treat? The love handles, belly fat, double chin, muffin top, chest, bra bulge, back fat, inner thighs, outer thighs and back of arms are some of the most common treatment areas.

What is CoolSculpting treatment like?

When you come in for a CoolSculpting treatment in Newcastle, the appointment should start with an assessment to determine which body part(s) are of concern to you. During the consultation, you can discuss your goals with the CoolSculpting technician. Pricing can vary depending on how many sessions are needed, along with how many areas you want treated.

The technician will guide you through what to expect during treatment and ensure that you are comfortable before beginning.

The areas that you wish to have treated will be marked before the procedure starts. You will sit or lie back on the treatment table, and the CoolSculpting provider will place the roll of fat between two cold hand-pieces. The machine is switched on, and you will feel vacuum-like pressure on the treatment area.

Aside from being cold, the sensation can feel a bit unusual at first. There may be some discomfort as you get used to the feeling of the hand-pieces. For most patients, this is not painful. Rather, it is more like a feeling of pressure. It may feel strange, especially the first time you have it done.

Any discomfort usually passes quickly, as the cold sensation will numb the skin slightly. Don’t worry though. The CoolSculpting machine won’t freeze your skin or cause frostbite. Instead, the coldness is designed to pass through the skin, freezing and killing fat cells alone.

Once the CoolSculpting machine is turned off, the technician may massage the areas treated. This helps achieves a smooth result. It is normal for the skin to appear pink or red afterward. Mild bruising, temporary numbness and swelling is also possible.

Treatment time varies depending on the size of the target area. Most treatments take about one hour to complete. When it is over, you may experience mild soreness. Most patients can get right back to their normal activities of daily living. There is no downtime with CoolSculpting.

CoolSculpting results take time. Visible results can be seen in most patients within the first twelve weeks. Repeat treatments may be needed to get the desired result. Most patients return for 2-3 sessions.

More than 6 million treatments have been performed

Fat freezing has exploded in popularity since the early 2000s. Today, CoolSculpting is the leading non-surgical fat reduction procedure in the world. And it’s not a gimmick. CoolSculpting Newcastle is FDA approved and TGA approved to work. Millions of patients across the globe have seen the incredible results of fat removal with fat freezing technology. You could be next!

Non invasive fat reduction is a medical procedure in which patients can remove fat cells without going under the knife. The two most popular options are CoolSculpting and TruSculpt ID, both of which are FDA-approved fat removal devices.

The promise of laying back on a comfy treatment table while a doctor or clinician uses a machine to remove body fat with almost no pain, minimal discomfort and few side effects may seem too good to be true, but the fact is the best non invasive fat reduction devices do just that.

 Why try non-surgical fat reduction?

Skipping cosmetic surgery in favor of non-surgical options like TruSculpt ID has many benefits, such as:

  • No downtime
  • Minimal side effects
  • Safe and well tolerated
  • No need to take off work
  • Little to no pain during treatment
  • Easy and convenient
  • Affordable cost
  • Proven safety with fewer serious risks than lipo and surgery
  • FDA and TGA approved
  • Beautiful and permanent results without surgery

What’s the catch?

Non-surgical fat removal using FDA-approved devices has impressive results, tons of benefits and few risks. However, there are some limitations you should know about up front.

Non-invasive fat reduction is not a substitute for diet and exercise. Rather, it’s best to reach a stable weight before booking the appointment for fat melting or fat freezing. If you want to lose weight, do so before coming in to put the finishing touches on your dream body with fat reduction technology.

The treatment is best for men and women who want to remove small pockets of stubborn fat. A pinch of fat here, a small bulge of fat there — that’s what non-invasive fat reduction is designed to treat. Nearly anywhere on the body can be treated.

Keep in mind fat freezing and fat melting won’t give dramatic results like weight loss surgery, liposuction or a tummy tuck. TruSculpt ID patients ideally have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or less. Yet for patients who only have a small amount of fat that’s bothering them, the results are impressive. It can feel like a huge victory to say goodbye to small areas of fat like a bra bulge, muffin top, a handful of belly fat or pudgy inner thighs.

Patients with pacemakers, defibrillators, tumors or damaged skin at the treatment site, or certain kinds of metal implants might not be able to get treated.

Pregnant and nursing women are also advised against it, along with a laundry list of other cosmetic treatments they shouldn’t get (think hitting the hair salon for highlights or sitting in a nail salon with the smell of acetone lingering in the air).

That doesn’t mean fat reduction technology can harm the baby. To date, no medical studies have proven a link between harming the baby and non-invasive fat reduction. It’s just a matter of being cautious and erring on the safe side since many of these are newer technologies that need more time on their side to prove longterm safety.

The results of treatment are permanent. However, it won’t stop you from gaining new fat cells if you eat too many calories and don’t get enough exercise in the future. On the up side, treatments are affordable compared to invasive fat removal. Therefore, you can always book another appointment for a touch up in the future, if needed.

Learn about the latest non-invasive fat reduction technology

The weight loss market is massive, no pun intended. Aside from eating healthy and hitting the gym, there is no shortage of online fitness gurus, weight loss gimmicks, home exercise equipment and fad diets that promise to get rid of body fat fast. While some of these products and services are legitimate and can really help patients shed the pounds, others are hocus pocus to get you to part from your hard-earned money.

Yet there is hope for getting rid of stubborn fat virtually anywhere on the body that you can grab a pinch of fat. Non-Invasive fat reduction is perfect for that. The technology is always evolving. Today, we will discuss two of the most popular cosmetic fat reduction techniques that patients are booking appointments for in order to slim down.

TruSculpt ID is a new fat loss machine that boasts incredible results, while CoolSculpting continues to be a mainstay of cosmetic fat reduction, although the technology is older.

TruSculpt ID is the hot new way to melt fat fast

TruSculpt ID is the latest technology to remove stubborn fat in as little as 15 minutes. Heat is used to break down fat cells without harming underlying tissue and organs. It is TGA and FDA approved for lipolysis, which is the medical term for breaking down fat cells.

How does TruSculpt work?

TruSculpt ID uses heat to kill fat cells. Using heat administered with radiofrequency energy, it works by destroying fat cells. Then, the liver removes the dead fat cells from the body over a period of 1 to 4 months after treatment.

Nearly any area that has extra fat can be treated. During the procedure, the patient lies on a treatment table while small handheld pieces (about 8×8 cm or 3×3 inches) are placed on the target areas. Due to the convenient size of the handheld pieces, even small areas like the neck or double chin can be treated. Each device comes with 6 paddles, so larger areas with fat deposits like the love handles are no problem.

The device is then powered on and you will feel a warming heat sensation. Nearly 25% of fat cells in the treated area die the very same day as treatment, according to the device’s manufacturer, Cutera. Talk about fast!

It takes about 3 months for those cells to be removed from the body by the liver. Just 1 to 2 treatments are enough for most patients to see visible effects. Fast, easy, comfortable and effective — it’s no wonder patients are loving the results they get from TruSculpt ID.

How fast will I see TruSculpt results?

Is TruSculpt effective? The results from TruSculpt ID are no doubt impressive. But it is important to understand that results are not instant. It takes a few months for the liver to flush out the fat cells that were killed during treatment. Most patients notice full results about 3 months after treatment, but you may notice a difference as soon as 4 weeks later.

That time can vary from patient to patient since every person is unique. Not everyone’s liver works at the same speed, so this is normal. That is one big reason you’ll see some patients online talking about getting results quickly, while others take longer to see the effects.

TruSculpt side effects

TruSculpt ID is safe and effective, but temporary side effects are common after treatment. Usually, these side effects last up to a few hours. These includes:

  • Mild discomfort
  • Temporary skin redness
  • Skin warmth
  • Sweating during treatment

CoolSculpting was the cool way to get skinny before TruSculpt came along

CoolSculpt was once a pioneer in non invasive fat reduction procedures. Back then, CoolSculpting was on the lips of some of the best aesthetic clinics in the world.

Well, today things have changed. The technology has gotten better (ahem, thanks to TruSculpt ID), with less discomfort during treatment and fewer reported side effects than CoolSculpt. Still, freezing fat with cryolipolysis was truly revolutionary. The devices were expensive to buy, and they do work. That is why many clinics still offer CoolSculpting services today.

How does CoolSculpting work?

Fat freezing works by killing fat cells with frigid temperatures. Cold paddles are placed on the skin at the treatment site, and the technology goes to work freezing and killing fat cells to reduce fat in the treatment site. The paddles use controlled cooling so the skin doesn’t freeze. Instead, they target fat cells alone. Patients will feel a very cold sensation from the paddles, however.

Depending on the size of the treatment area, it can take about 1 to 2 hours for treatments to be completed. Meanwhile, TruSculpt ID gets the treatment done in about 15 minutes.

Like TruSculpt, not every single fat cell treated will die. But a lot of them will, and that gives patients visible fat freezing results. Over a period of several months, the dead fat cells are eventually flushed out of the body by the liver.

Similar to TruSculpt ID, the process of flushing out the dead fat cells killed by CoolSculpting takes the liver some time. Therefore, results aren’t instant. Most patients notice full effects in 3 months on average, some faster or slower than others since every patient is unique.

CoolSculpting side effects

Almost anyone can get CoolSculpting done to remove fat. But is CoolSculpting safe? As with any cosmetic procedure, there are some side effects, most of which are mild and temporary. The most common side effects are:

  • Mild to moderate discomfort
  • Temporary skin redness
  • Cold skin during treatment
  • Skin redness
  • Tingling sensation
  • Bruising, which should subside in about 2 weeks

TruSculpt & CoolScupting vs. liposuction

Fat freezing and fat melting technology work to get rid of fat, but they won’t have results as dramatic as invasive fat removal options like liposuction or surgery. Non-invasive fat removal is great for patients who don’t want the pain, cost and downtime associated with more aggressive procedures.

Not everyone can afford the cost of surgery. A big part of that fee is the anesthetist fee. Going under the knife or having liposuction done requires sedation. That is one reason why liposuction costs more than non-invasive fat reduction, which doesn’t require anesthesia.

Unlike liposuction, non-invasive treatments work over the skin. This causes little to no tissue damage because both devices use technology to bypass the skin layer and target fat cells alone. With TruSculpt, the device is self regulating to administer heat deep into fat cells without harming nearby tissue and organs at all, nor overheating the skin. The CoolSculpting paddles work in a similar way, using controlled cooling to target fat cells. While the skin feels very cold during treatment, it won’t freeze the skin itself.

Liposuction is aggressive by comparison. It works below the skin layer to access the fatty tissue in the subcutaneous fat layer. The fat is broken down and then manually removed with suction. Tissue damage occurs almost by definition. While lipo removes much more fat in a single treatment than either TruSculpt ID or CoolSculpting can, liposuction has more side effects like swelling that can take months to go away. You’ll also need to take time off work to heal from lipo.

If you are interested in lipo, VASER liposculpture is a more modern alternative that uses advanced technology and gentler suction to cause less tissue damage while removing the same, if not more, fat than traditional liposuction. Dr. Bernard Beldholm loves VASER, and his patients do, too. You can learn more about VASER here.

What other non-surgical fat reduction options are there?

Now that you know the two best ways to get rid of stubborn fat, you may wonder if you can get rid of fat with unapproved home fat removal devices or other treatments like fat reduction injections.

How can I remove fat at home with fat reduction technology?

While researching how to get rid of fat without diet and exercise, you may have come across home fat reduction devices for sale online.

These devices promise to reduce body fat without leaving the comfort of home. While it sounds convenient, are the results worth it? That’s debatable. From a medical standpoint, no home fat reduction devices have been approved by the TGA or FDA for fat reduction. Not only do they not work, but they have not been tested for safety. Don’t gamble with your health. Experimenting with medical devices at home can be dangerous.

The best thing you can do at home to reduce fat is dieting and exercising. If diet and exercise are failing to get the results you want but you don’t want liposuction, TruSculpt ID with fat melting technology is the best choice, according to Doctor Bernard at Specialist Skin Solutions.

Don’t try CoolSculpting at home

DIY CoolSculpting made an appearance on the internet, and that is truly unfortunate because the results can be scary. Home “CoolSculpting” had some pretty foolish internet users attempting to use ice cubes to freeze fat. There is no evidence to support using ice cubes to get rid of fat, plain and simple. Doing so freezes skin and not much else. That is, if you’re lucky. You can do serious harm to your skin or even end up damaging skin severely, enough to need medical care. Frostbite, pain, numbness and permanent tissue death are all possible.

DIY “CoolSculpting” is dangerous, won’t work and is definitely not something you should try at home.

Real CoolSculpting at a medical office is very different than using ice cubes. The paddles are regulated to prevent skin from freezing and they target fat cells exclusively.

Get rid of double chin with cosmetic injectables

While TruSculpt ID can treat a double chin, some patients choose fat reduction injections instead for this area. Injectable deoxycholic acid is a non-surgical double chin treatment that is FDA approved. This cosmetic injectable works by administering deoxycholic acid (also known as cholanoic acid) into the skin with a needle. This natural and safe substance is found naturally in the human body.

According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, it breaks down fat cells on contact, without migrating to nearby areas. Multiple injection points are made in the chin. Treatment causes little discomfort as local anesthetic is often used. It usually takes about 20 minutes per session, and 2 to 4 treatments (at 1 month intervals) may be needed for best results.

Side effects are typically mild and temporary. Mild swelling and numbness, redness at the injection site and bruising may occur. Serious side effects are less common. These include facial weakness and prolonged numbness, which are rare but possible. When this occurs, it usually resolves itself without needing medical attention. However, you should tell your doctor if these symptoms occur.

Note that this is the only FDA-approved injectable for fat reduction. This substance is only approved for double chin injections.

Summary

Fat melting technology offers many benefits compared to older fat freezing technology, such as quicker sessions and more comfortable treatments. While neither of these fat-busting solutions will remove as much fat as liposuction or body contouring surgery, the best non invasive fat reduction devices are an easy, fast and affordable way to remove small pockets of fat nearly anywhere on the body.

Would you like to remove fat on certain areas of the body without hitting the gym or getting  cosmetic surgery? If you’re interested in non-surgical fat reduction, you have probably heard about CoolSculpting or fat freezing.

So, is CoolSculpting effective? Freezing fat with CoolSculpting is FDA approved to work. Clinical trials have shown that the treatment removes up to 20% of fat cells in the treated area. Patients across the world have seen impressive results since the early 2000s, and the device continues to be popular today.

Let’s talk about the company’s history to discover more about who invented CoolSculpting, the leading fat freezing technology in the world.

Coolsculpting

How does CoolSculpting work?

CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved medical device that destroys fat cells with a process called cryolipolysis. It works by positioning a section of fatty skin between two cold paddles that work below the skin surface to freeze fat cells without harming skin, thanks to controlled cooling. It takes about 30 minutes for the device per area to work.

Once the fat cells freeze, they die permanently. Over the next few months, the dead cells are flushed from the body by the liver. As the cells are excreted, the treated area will appear slimmer, giving patients more thin and defined body contours.

The device is designed for body contouring, and is not meant for general weight loss. It works best to refine stubborn trouble spots that the patient cannot get rid of, particularly when diet and exercise have failed to give the desired result.

What areas can be treated with fat freezing?

Many areas of the body can have CoolSculpting treatments done to reduce fat in the treated area. Virtually anywhere you can grab a roll of fat, the procedure can treat. There are some exceptions, which we’ll talk about in the next section.

Upper arms

The upper arms are a body part that is known to store excess fat. The sides and back of arms can be a real trouble spot, especially for women since they tend to have less arm muscle than men. You don’t have to be overweight to have pudgy arms. In fact, even thin women may have a jiggle of skin as they hold their arm out to wave hello. CoolSculpting can easily treat this area, giving remarkable results in about 3 months.

Tummy

Putting on a few pounds almost always shows on the tummy first. Belly fat can be hard to get rid of. Whether it’s a small pinch of skin or a jelly roll, CoolSculpting works to treat stubborn belly fat. The roll of fat will be placed between two cold paddles and in less than an hour, the treatment is done. Full effects take a few months to see.

Flanks aka “love handles”

Many men and women store fat in the flanks. The flanks are on the side of the body, located between the lower rib cage and hip. It is also known as the lumbar region, or “love handles”. Many patients with love handles would love to see them go away for good. Hips store fat more than other areas of the body, so unfortunately it’s a common problem.

Working out and eating right can help you lose fat all over, but the love handles may have stubborn fat that just won’t go away no matter what you do. The pinch of fat on the side of the body near the hip bone can cause “muffin top”. That is a roll of fat that bulges out along the waist line, usually when wearing tight pants. CoolSculpting love handles makes the hips look thinner and more attractive.

Back fat

Back fat can affect anyone. The back covers a large area, so it’s no surprise that fatty tissue stores up easily here. For women, their choice of clothing and undergarments can make back fat more obvious.

Many women of all ages complain of “bra bulge”. That happens because bras are designed to fit snugly in order to give support to the breasts. The bra band digs into skin as a result. Even thin patients can have bra bulge. It is easy to spot under tight clothing or shirts made of thin materials. Many women are self conscious about it and seek CoolSculpting treatment for this area.

Knees

Everyone wants long, lean legs. Knee fat gets in the way of that. Knee fat can be unsightly and make walking uncomfortable. Knees rubbing together when you walk can cause skin irritation and chafing. Fat knees are also a problem from an aesthetic standpoint. Many patients interested in fat reduction would love to have less fat on their knees. Wearing long pants all year to cover up the knee area is not always practical, especially in the summer heat. CoolSculpting can help treat knee fat.

Inner thigh fat

If you have knee fat, it’s almost a certainty that inner thigh fat goes along with it. Thighs cover a large area. There is a lot of adipose tissue in the thighs. For people who work a desk job all day, thick thighs can seem to grow bigger by the day. Genetics also play a role in inner thigh fat. For these patients, no matter how much they diet or exercise, fat thighs never seem to go away. Fat freezing is perfect for slimmer thighs by treating the inner thigh area.

Outer thighs

Outer thigh fat can be caused by aging, weight gain and genetics. Women are more likely to have outer thigh fat than men since women’s bodies have a different distribution of fat. Luckily, CoolSculpting can help. CoolSculpting thighs makes the outer thighs look thinner, giving patients a big boost in confidence and more attractive legs.

Saddle bags

Also known as “banana rolls”, the area where the buttocks meets the top of the thigh is prone to weight gain and sagging skin. This causes a crescent-shaped area of fat located just below the buttocks. Aging, genetics, weight gain and a sedentary lifestyle are all contributing factors. CoolSculpting saddle bags can slim the area, though repeat treatments will likely be needed to achieve the desired result.

What areas can’t be treated with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting can’t treat small areas like the neck or a double chin. That is because the paddles are simply too large to position such a small area of fat between them. It is unfortunate because many women who have a double chin would do anything to make it go away. A double chin is commonly caused by aging and genetics. It can be a real blow to the patient’s self confidence, not to mention making the patient look older than he or she really is.

However, newer fat-melting technology like TruSculpt ID works well on small areas like the neck with ease. That’s because TruSculpt has smaller paddles that can treat large and small areas alike. Unlike fat freezing, TruSculpt uses fat melting to kill fat cells permanently with gentle heat. Fat melting is a good alternative for patients who do not wish to have a neck lift, neck liposuction or cosmetic injectables for double chin.

Heavy upper eyelids is another small area that CoolSculpting can’t treat. Over time, the skin below the brow can droop and sag. In severe cases, sagging brows can causes a hooded eyelid. That is when part of the upper eyelid is covered by hanging skin. Patients with sagging brows look old and tired, no matter how much sleep they got the night before.

Severe hooded eyelids can be dangerous. It can even cause accidents when driving or walking since the hanging skin may partially block the patient’s peripheral vision. Most patients with drooping brows simply want to look better.

Unfortunately, CoolSculpting won’t work on such a small and delicate area. There are better alternatives, however. A brow lift (aka blepharoplasty) can make eyes appear fresher and more awake for a more youthful appearance.

Coolsculpting

Who invented CoolSculpting?

Zeltiq Aesthetics is a leader in fat freezing technology. The company created CoolSculpting to help patients lose unwanted fat with non-surgical body contouring. Known as cryolipolysis, this is the medical term for killing fat cells with extreme cold temperatures. Zeltiq is the maker of CoolSculpting, one of the biggest revolutions in non-surgical fat reduction to date.

What is CoolSculpting?

While today there are newer and more modern fat-busting technologies that improve upon CoolSculpting in many ways, CoolSculpting earned a prestigious reputation by pioneering the field of non-invasive fat reduction. The company certainly deserves recognition for its achievements. CoolSculpting and newer alternatives are popular for removing fat without surgery in as little as 3 months.

How Zeltiq got its start

Zeltiq is best known for its developing the world’s most popular fat freeing technology, CoolSculpting.

It all began in 2005 when the company was founded as Juniper Medical by Mitchell Levinson. Levinson is considered Zeltiq Aesthetics’ founder. He was previously the head of Thermage, a cosmetic technology company that created skin tightening devices powered by radio frequency. In 2005, he introduced a new company called Juniper Medical.

In 2007, Juniper Medical changed its name to Zeltiq Aesthetics. Its work on developing fat freezing technology was the first of its kind.

Zeltiq is now a subsidiary of Allergan, which acquired the company in 2017. Many people know Allergan as a household name. It is a company that specializes in aesthetic medical devices and some of the world’s most popular cosmetic injectables.

Meet Dr. Anderson and Dr. Manstein, who invented CoolSculpting

Dr. Richard Rox Anderson, Dr. Dieter Manstein and their colleagues at Juniper Medical developed and licensed CoolSculpting, a non-invasive medical device for permanent fat removal that uses extreme cold temperatures to freeze and permanently destroy fat cells.

Dr. Anderson is a graduate of MIT and Harvard Medical School, a dermatologist and an entrepreneur. Dr. Manstein of Massachusetts General Hospital graduated from the University of Munster in Germany. Maintain is a dermatologist with a special interest in emerging technology. In addition to their work on CoolSculpting, the pair also also helped develop Fraxel skin rejuvenation.

While CoolSculpting is known as a fat removal device, that’s not how it started. In 2009, the team at Juniper Medical created a freezing device prototype that was clinically tested on pigs to numb the skin with cold temperatures prior to dermatological procedures. This was to be developed as an alternative to topical anesthetics for reducing pain during minimally-invasive procedures.

The team quickly noticed that the device worked well for fat removal as well,. They soon switched gears and began talking about their new fat-freezing device in the media. The device was the first of its kind to use selective cryolipolysis for targeting fat cells alone. The team worked on improving the device and submitted it to clinical trials. Finally, CoolSculpting was born.

Doctors around the world began purchasing the machine for “off label” body contouring use to reduce stubborn fat in certain parts of the body. The company raised a reported $75 million in sales by 2010.

The CoolSculpting investors were determined to prove the device’s effectiveness. In September 2010, CoolSculpting received FDA approval for fat removal on the love handles. In 2012, it was approved for use on belly fat. Patients around the world were loving the results. It became popular in the United States in 2011, the same year the company went public.

The inventors of the CoolSculpting procedure did not rest. They continued improving the technology further. In 2014, they introduced a new version that used suction cups rather than paddles, which the FDA approved for use on inner thigh fat. As a leader in non-invasive fat removal, Allergan purchased Zeltiq for a reported $2.48 billion.

About Zeltiq today

Zeltiq’s headquarters are based in Pleasanton, California. The current CEO is Mark J. Foley, who has held the position since August 2012. Zeltiq Aesthetics is still owned by Allergan. Today, Zeltiq continues to manufacture and sell CoolSculpting devices worldwide.

Trusculpt iD the next generation in non invasive fat reduction. FDA & TGA approved for up to 24% reduction in fat. With one 15 min pain free treatment.

Can you imagine getting rid of body fat while checking your email AND enjoying the feeling of a hot stone massage? Talk about multitasking! TruSculpt iD is the latest innovation in fat reduction technology, and it is attracting plenty of attention. It is a painless fat removal technology performed by a plastic surgeon. TruSculpting removes up to 24 percent of fat cells(3) in the time it takes you to have your lunch break at work.

And we are not just talking about the fat on your tummy, love handles, and thighs like old-school treatments. TruSculpt iD can melt fat almost anywhere on your body. That includes even small pockets of fat in hard to reach areas, like a double chin. Virtually anywhere you can grab a pinch of fat, Dr. Bernard Beldholm can treat.

Get your day planner ready. By the end of this post, you’ll want to be first in line to experience the amazing results for yourself. But first, let’s learn about what makes TruSculpt the best non-invasive fat reduction option available today.

What is TruSculpt iD?

TruSculpt iD is the third generation in radio frequency (RF) body contouring from Cutera. It is the first and only RF device with FDA and TIA approval for fat removal. That is what makes it so exciting. It works by using heat to kill fat cells in the target area, without damaging skin or surrounding structures. TruSculpt works just as well, if not better, than fat freezing

Plus, the treatment is way more comfortable. Many patients say it feels a lot like getting a warm massage. What could be better than that? Oh right, saying goodbye to even your most stubborn body fat. Each session kills up to 20 to 24 percent of fat cells.3 When you’re done, you can just get up and go right back to work if you want to.

How does TruSculpt iD work?

TruSculpt works by destroying fat cells with heat. The heat targets fat cells alone, thanks to the machine’s intelligent design. Using 2 megahertz of monopolar radio frequency, it works on even your most troublesome body fat. What’s the secret? It all happens in a process called apoptosis. That means permanently causing fat cells to die.(1) Two MHz has been clinically proven as the perfect amount to permanently kill fat tissue.(3)

Just point out where you’d like to remove fat, and Dr. Bernard will position it between two heated pads. These hands-free pads will massage the treatment area with warm pressure while directing the RF’s heat energy right into the fat cells below your skin. In about 15 minutes, you’ll be on your way without any downtime whatsoever. Fast forward three to four months, and you’ll be amazed to see a 1/4 reduction in fat in the treated area.(3)

A little bulge here, a little pooch there…wherever you want fat removed, TruSculpt will do the trick. It is perfect for people who can’t get rid of small, stubborn areas of fat with diet and exercise alone.

Who is a good candidate for TruSculpt ID?

Anyone who is over age 18 who wants to get rid of modest amounts of body fat on the neck, arms, tummy, flanks, back, bra bulge, legs, chin, and more may be candidates. Men and women can get treated. Even slimmer patients, who may have been declined treatment with other devices, can use TruSculpt to get rid of small bits of excess fat that is bothering them. That is a big advantage compared to outdated technology.

You want to be at your goal weight before booking the appointment. TruSculpt improves your body contours by removing unwanted pockets of fat. It is not a weight loss solution. That is very important to note.

As long as you do not have any active skin problems or injury in the treatment area, most people will be able to get it done. Dr. Beldholm can even treat tattooed areas with no problem at all.

Who should not get TruSculpt iD?

The first exception is pregnant or breastfeeding women. While the device has no known fertility impact or pre-natal dangers, any unnecessary medical treatment during those times is inadvisable. That goes for women who are trying to conceive, too. After you are done breastfeeding, TruSculpt can be done safely. It gives fantastic results for mums who have a modest tummy pooch after baby.

It is great for busy mothers and professionals since there is no downtime like you would have with surgery or liposuction.

People with pacemakers or internal defibrillators, metal implants, or tumor(s) in the target area are also ineligible for treatment.

Why does to it take time to see results?

The machine starts causing the fat cells to die right away, which is great news. That continues happening for several weeks. The dead fat cells then make their way to the lymphatic system.2 It does take time for the liver to flush out the fat.

The results happen fast — usually it takes three to four months to see results. Some patients even notice a difference in just four weeks, although it doesn’t happen as quickly for everyone. For some people, it can take up to six months. The average time to see results is about three to four months.

Being patient is the hardest part. However, once the fat cells get flushed, they won’t come back. So long as you don’t put more weight on AFTER getting it done.

How long does each session take?

Believe it or not, it only takes 15 minutes to get TruSculpt done. The fast treatment time is impressive, especially compared to older technology. It is so fast you can come in, get it done, and still have to time to grab lunch on your way back to work. For busy professionals, it is the ultimate way to remove fat quickly. A lot of patients want to come in on their work break to get it done. It’s a good idea to book ahead.

That doesn’t mean the treatment feels rushed. You can do longer if you want, up to an hour per session. Doctor Bernard can even treat multiple areas at the same time. Say you want your love handles done, that will take 15 minutes. The machine comes with multiple pads, so you could treat a double chin at the same time. That is one of the best parts about it. It saves you so much time.

TruSculpt iD downtime and side effects

There is no downtime at all with TruSculpt iD. The moment the session is over, you can head back to work, pick up your kids, see friends, clean the attic, whatever you want to do that day. You won’t have any restricted mobility like you would with other fat reduction methods.

The treatment site won’t even have swelling. After treatment, you may notice that the skin can appear a bit red temporarily due to the heat from the pads. Redness is mild and goes away quickly. Skin returns to its normal color in about five to ten minutes. There won’t be pain, but a bit of mild tenderness in the treatment area is normal afterwards.

Can you repeat treatments?

Many people love the results after just one session. For example, they wanted a slight refinement and removing 20 to 24 percent of the fat cells gives them the perfect look they wanted. However, you can always come back again for more. Many patients come back in for further refinement because they want to remove a bit more fat. The average is one or two sessions. After 12 weeks, you can see Dr. Beldholm for another session. And then again three months later, if you wish. The results are permanent.

Experience beautiful results

Cutera TruSculpt ID is clinically proven for personalized body sculpting. The treatments can be tailored for your needs. In one or two sessions lasting just 15 minutes, that bit of body fat that has been bugging you for ages can finally bite the dust. With few exceptions, almost anyone is a candidate for TruSculpting. This thermal fat reduction device is safe and targets only fat cells. TruSculpt is a remarkable high-tech solution for non invasive fat removal.

New technology leaves CoolSculpt and fat freezing in the dust

You’ve heard about fat freezing and CoolSculpting before, but you’ve hesitated to try it. Who wants to feel the ice cold sting for an hour or more with a bulky machine suctioned onto your belly or love handles? Well, there is something that is way more comfortable and just as effective — no ice-cold, hard paddle needed. And it only takes 15 minutes!

People have a lot to say about CoolSculpting. Spoiler alert: It’s not always good. Here is what patients really think about getting fat freezing done:

“The paddle kind of hurt. It felt like my skin was being sucked into a steam roller…just a very, very cold one.” -T. Nguyen

“I had it done on my belly. 2.5 hours for a treatment just takes way too long. Not to mention it was kind of uncomfortable. Honestly, I couldn’t wait for the session to be over. I’m not looking forward to my next appointment.” -M. Simmons

“It worked, but I didn’t expect there to be so much bruising. They should warn you about that.” -K. Bouchard

TruSculpt ID is NOTHING like that

TruSculpt ID is a fast, painless way to get rid of up to 24% of fat cells* with treatments lasting just 15 minutes. This clinically-proven device uses soothing heated pads instead of freezing temperatures and uncomfortable suction. TruSculpt targets your most stubborn fat on all areas of the body, large and small. All you need to do is sit back and relax while the machine does all the work. In the time it takes to check your emails, the session is done just like that. You can head back to work right after without the bruising or painful sensations that can be common after CoolSculpt.

The best part is many patients say it feels like a hot stone massage. Bruising is uncommon, unlike with CoolSculpting. Side effects are very mild with TruSculpt ID. The most common one is for skin to be a bit red (this normally goes away in just a few minutes) and mild soreness afterwards that is temporary and easily tolerated. There is zero downtime or after care, and the results are permanent.

TruSculpt ID beats CoolSculpting hands down

Dr. Bernard Beldholm is a leading expert in body contouring techniques for both men and women. He knows that invasive surgery is not right for everyone, especially patients who want fast results with no downtime. After carefully reviewing the available non-invasive options on the market today, it is clear to him that TruSculpt ID is by far the best solution for most patients This is next-generation RF technology that targets fat cells alone — and it only takes one or two fifteen minute sessions to see real results.

Plastic surgeons and patients who have tried it are singing its praises. Word is getting out, and people are falling in love with TruSculpt. It has even won over the FDA and the TGA which have both approved it for lipolysis — and they are tough to persuade!

In the battle between CoolSculpt and TruSculpt iD, Dr. Beldholm knows there is a clear winner. As a body contouring expert with decades of experience helping men and women get the beautiful body they always wanted, he knows a thing or two about the latest fat reduction technology. The truth is, CoolSculpting and fat freezing works, but TruSculpt has many benefits. If you are considering non-invasive body contouring, TruSculpt is a no-brainer.

For men and women who want to get rid of excess fat, there are many options available today. CoolSculpting and liposuction are two of the most popular choices. It can be difficult to choose which procedure to try when you’re new to body contouring. This article will help you make sense of which may be the better option to remove extra fat on your body. There are some important similarities and differences between the two.

Lipo vs CoolSculpting similarities

Liposuction and CoolSculpting are both cosmetic procedures that refine the body contours by removing pockets of unwanted fat. Neither is meant for substantial weight loss, however they are good for mild to moderate fat removal. These procedures are great for stubborn treatment areas that don’t respond to diet and exercise.

Both are permanent fat removal methods. They work for men and women alike who wish to remove small amounts of fat for a slimmer, more attractive figure. It is important to note that health insurance does not cover either since they are elective cosmetic procedures.

How each one works

CoolSculpting works by freezing fat in a process called cryolipolysis. A roll of fat is placed between two pads that conduct extreme cold to the fat cells. This causes the fat cells to die off over the next few months. Then the fat is excreted by your liver. CoolSculpting is non invasive. That means it happens over the surface of your skin using technology that allows the cold temperatures to reach the fat cells below.

Liposuction is the manual extraction of fat through a cannula with suction. Liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure. A small incision is needed to reach the fat layer.

Which gets rid of more fat?

CoolSculpting sessions remove up to 25 percent of fat cells per treatment. Liposuction removes quite a bit more, up to 10 kgs. Another difference is that liposuction only needs one treatment. With CoolSculpting, you might need repeat treatments since it removes 1/4 of the fat cells in the target area each time. CoolSculpting is better for removing small amounts of fat. It is the right choice if you want to refine small fat pockets since it costs less and has less risks. Unsure how much fat you need removed? A plastic surgeon can help you decide.

Cost of CoolSculpting and liposuction

If saving money is your priority, CoolSculpting is more affordable. Liposuction costs more because there are surgical fees. Anesthesia can be costly. It also takes a little longer to perform lipo than CoolSculpting, depending on how much fat you want removed. You are paying for the plastic surgeon’s time, expertise, and operating room expenses.

Fat freezing is more affordable since it is a non-invasive outpatient procedure. CoolSculpting is a “one man” job, while lipo requires that the surgeon, nurse(s), and aesthetician are paid for their time and training.

Safety and side effects

Both are considered safe procedures when performed by a qualified doctor. However, liposuction carries more risk because it is invasive. Common side effects of lipo include swelling, pain, bruising, and discomfort. Serious but rare side effects include blood clots, infection, bad reaction to anesthesia, and other risks related to surgery. Skin rippling is also possible.

CoolSculpting is not without side effects, but they tend to be purely aesthetic. There are no known dangerous medical risks linked to it. Redness, tingling, stinging, and bruising are common but mild. Plus, the side effects usually go away in just three to eleven days for most people. PAH, a hardening expansion of the fat pocket, can occur in very rare cases. That is a cosmetic issue that is not dangerous to your health.

Pain: Which hurts more?

Liposuction is the more aggressive treatment. It must be performed under general anesthesia so that you don’t experience unwanted pain during the procedure. Local anesthetic and prescription medication may be used to reduce discomfort on the first day. Meanwhile, CoolSculpting sessions are relatively pain free by comparison. You do not have to be sedated to get CoolSculpting. Patients tend to describe CoolSculpting as more uncomfortable than painful, if anything. You will not need prescription pain medication afterwards.

Convenience and recovery time

CoolSculpting is the more convenient and quick option for fat removal. It has no downtime, whereas liposuction has a few days of downtime. You can get CoolSculpting done in as little as an hour, then return to work straight after with little more than mild discomfort.

Another big difference is that liposuction requires time off work, at least a few days. You can resume most normal activities about two weeks afterwards. Patients should avoid driving after liposuction for at least 24 hours. After that, it is up to your pain tolerance for when you feel ready to drive. None of this applies to CoolSculpting. You can just get up and go when it is done.

Time you have to wait to see results

With liposuction, it can take three to six months. There will be swelling after the surgery which can obscure results. It takes time for the swelling to go down. Most of the swelling subsides in four weeks, but it often takes longer to completely go away. (Compression garments can help reduce swelling.) CoolSculpting results can happen in as little as four to six weeks, although it can take three to six months for final results.

Choosing a winner between liposuction vs. CoolSculpting

Liposuction is a more extensive procedure. It is designed to get out a larger amount of fat at one time than CoolSculpting. It gives more dramatic results, but it has a higher cost and more risks. If you are looking to remove body contouring in a single session, liposuction could be the right choice. On the other hand, if you are hoping to save money, lower your risk of serious side effects, and you are willing to repeat treatments, CoolSculpting may be the way to go. A qualified cosmetic surgeon can help you decide which option is right for you.

Are you worried that fat freezing with CoolSculpting didn’t work for you? If you took body measurements before getting the procedure, you may be really confused to see that the numbers haven’t budged weeks or months later. What gives? Isn’t body contouring supposed to make you skinnier?

Do numbers matter?

Turns out, with CoolSculpting treatment, the numbers on the measuring tape have little to do with the success of your results. Yes, really.

It is human nature to want tangible proof to support our beliefs. Since our childhood school days, we were taught to rely on numbers and facts. Of course, that is smart thinking. Doing so helps us make good decisions every day of our lives. Having proof also helps us avoid getting duped. No one wants to “fall for” something, which can lead to disappointment and lost money.

Buying a car is one example that comes to mind. You wouldn’t just take the word of the salesperson at the dealership. Most people would research before making the decision to buy. It is not even enough to get recommendations from trusted friends. Let’s face it — opinions can vary!

Data can help us make better decisions, like when purchasing a car. We might look to a reputable auto magazine for safety reports, comparison ratings, crash tests, and more to confirm that it is a good purchase. Then, after buying the car (let’s say a hybrid vehicle, for instance), we might check to see that our actual mileage is close to the advertised kilometers per gallon. As humans, we are taught to “Trust, but verify”.

Simply put, it does not pay to be gullible. That is why we look for facts, stats, and hard criteria like measurements to back up what we believe.

The trouble is, CoolSculpting results usually cannot be measured in inches lost. As much as we want it to, that is often not how it works. More on that later!

When it comes to losing weight, we are trained to look at numbers

The numbers on the scale. The inches on the measuring tape. The size of our jeans. When it comes to weight loss, the common belief is that numbers are all that matters. This way of thinking is not only short sighted, but also dangerous.

People who think about numbers alone are more likely to have a skewed body image. This has been well documented in patients with eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia. Self confidence often suffers when you are only focused on the numbers.

Luckily, body positivity has been having a moment. Today, people are celebrating all shapes and sizes. Of course, it is normal to want to refine a little trouble spot here or there. Body contouring with CoolSculpting can help with that in as little as four weeks’ time.

When you get CoolSculpting, it is not about the numbers on the scale or inches lost. It is hard to stop being hung up on numbers when society has told you differently. Many women are taught since childhood that these numbers are all that matters. CoolSculpting results are better judged by what you see in the mirror and how your old clothes fit in the months after treatment.

Taking accurate body measurements is not as easy as it looks

There are so many reasons that measuring inches lost can be a wasted effort. First, it can be difficult to remember exactly where you laid the measuring tape on your body from one day to the next. There are just too many variables. For example, when measuring your waist for the second or third time, you may inadvertently place the measuring tape a tiny bit above or below where you had it last time.

There are also a lot more chances for human error to factor in. What about if you are bloated, dehydrated, or even just had a big lunch? That can cause the measurements to vary as well.

Yet another reason is this. It takes about three months to see the final results from CoolSculpting. In that time, it is possible that the fat cells in the target area indeed went away permanently, but then new fat cells took their place. The reason for that is a simple one: Eating more calories than you burn leads to weight gain, inches gained, and a higher number on the scale. That is a fact, no matter if you had CoolSculpting or not.

Or how about if you began a new fitness routine to go along with your body contouring goals? That is something many men and women choose to do. Gaining muscle or losing weight through exercise can also make the measure tape method for volume loss inaccurate. Even changing your posture or the laxity of the measuring tape can make a difference.

Gaining or losing volume can be hard to measure

Let’s look at another example many women can relate to: bra cup sizes. Allison has been a 36C for as long as she can remember. Around the holidays this year, she gained a little bit of weight. Not much, really. It was only about six pounds. The funny thing is her bra cup size stayed the same. If you had a very high-tech medical imaging machine, you could measure the volume of her breasts before and after to compare. In Allison’s case, her breast size went up a little in volume — just a few CC’s. Yet her bra size stayed the same.

The reason is that the volume increase was dispersed throughout the entire breast. It may have increased in size allover, and Allison even noticed that they looked a bit bigger in the mirror, but her cup size remained the same. Had Allison measured her breasts before and after at the fullest point, she would likely see that the number on the measuring tape was nearly the same. As you can see, a measuring tape is not always the best way to measure modest volume gain or loss.

How much weight you can expect to lost with CoolSculpting

The fat lost in a CoolSculpting procedure is enough to make a visual difference, but usually not enough to move the scale. If you weighed the same before and after treatment, do not fret. That is totally normal. The number on the scale has little to do with the success of the treatment.

It is very important to note that CoolSculpting is NOT a weight loss procedure. Yes, it removes fat cells. However, the point of CoolSculpting is to refine fat from certain areas of the body after you have reached your goal weight. Your weight may go down a bit, or it may not. It is typical to see that your body weight fluctuates a bit on the scale day to day, even if you have not had body sculpting done. Using a scale is not a good method to judge CoolSculpting results. Neither is a measuring tape.

You can lose some inches with CoolSculpting

Just because it is not guaranteed that you will lose inches with CoolSculpting, that does not mean it is impossible. Many patients do. You may very well lose inches. But for the reasons discussed earlier, it could be because of CoolSculpting or even some other reason entirely.

The point is, if your goal is to lose inches and that is the only thing that will make you happy, CoolSculpting might not be for you. Losing inches is best achieved through long-term diet and exercise, or surgical body contouring treatments that remove more substantial quantities of fat. It is just not realistic to think you will shed major inches with CoolSculpting, even though the treated area will certainly look better than before.

Are CoolSculpting results guaranteed?

Reputable CoolSculpting providers do not guarantee weight loss or inches lost. That is because these can be unreliable ways of judging fat volume loss. Each session usually removes 20 to 25 percent of the fat cells in the treated area. You can’t measure subtle volume loss well by measuring inches or weight on a scale. However, you should notice a visible difference of up to 25 percent fat loss in the target area a few months after treatment. If not, check back with your cosmetic surgeon for advice.

What if you don’t notice any difference after CoolSculpting?

The important thing to remember is that results do not happen overnight, as much as we’d like them to. The CoolSculpting machine freezes fat cells, causing them to die. Then, the dead fat cells get flushed out by your liver. The process takes time. For some people, it takes just four to six weeks to see results. For others, it may take longer. Everybody is different. Try to have patience. Results will come in time.

It is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen after CoolSculpting. The results are permanent, but it won’t stop you from putting on weight in the future.

Another key to consider is that repeat treatments may be necessary. Each session removes up to 25 percent of fat cells. If you have a large pocket of fat in the love handles, upper arms, or anywhere else you’d like to reduce fat, keep in mind each session remove 1/4 of the fat in the area treated.

As much as it would be nice to see a big roll of excess fatty tissue disappear, you have to be realistic. CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved technology. But a single session can only do so much at a time. It is meant to refine body contours by removing small amounts of fat when you are at a stable weight. If you want to go down a dress size, other options like VASER liposculpture or a mini tummy tuck might be the answer.

Forget the measuring tape

CoolSculpting is an excellent way to accomplish fat reduction. It is non invasive, meaning you don’t need to have surgery. There is no downtime, and side effects are mild and not harmful to your health. It can do wonders to get rid of a little belly fat, bra bulge, flabby underarm, flanks, and more. But it is not a weight loss method.

The final takeaway is this: When it comes to CoolSculpting inches lost, you should not feel disappointed by the numbers on the ruler. They can be misleading. The key is to judge your CoolSculpting results by what you see in the mirror, rather than the number you see on the measuring tape.

How it works

Next, it is important to understand how CoolSculpting works. The average session takes about an hour to complete. This can vary depending on the number of areas you want treated and the size of the target area. CoolSculpting uses extreme cold temperatures to kill fat cells in a process called cryolipolysis. The device targets fat alone. Each session treats approximately 20 to 25 percent of fat cells treated.

After the session, you will eventually begin to see the pocket of fat get smaller as the fat cells rupture and die off. Your body needs time to flush the treated fat out of your system. The excretion process takes time.

How long to see results after the procedure

Once your CoolSculpting session is complete, you can look forward to finally getting rid of that unwanted fat. This is when the real fun begins.

Some patients see the full results from CoolSculpting in as little as four to six weeks. By three to four months, that is when the body has broken down the fat cells and flushed much of that fat out through the liver. However, it is important to note that this timeline is not a guarantee. Every human body is different. Your age, health, metabolism, and other factors can play a role. For other patients, it can take up to six months to see results from CoolSculpting.

What if it doesn’t work?

It is important to remember that results can’t be rushed. For patients who have to wait longer to see results, it may feel like a letdown. And they understandably tend to voice those frustrations online. Some people expect results to happen faster than their body can produce. The disappointment makes sense. Everyone wants instant gratification. It is just part of human nature.

They may even worry that CoolSculpting didn’t work if they don’t see fast results. For the vast majority of people, the results will come. It just takes time. Also, remember that each session treats up to 25 percent of the fat cells at a time. You can expect the fat to reduce by about one-fourth realistically per treatment. Fat freezing helps refine your body by removing small areas of fat. If you want more extensive fat removal, a tummy tuckarm lift, mummy makeover, or body lift may be the answer.

Are the results permanent?

The best part is that the results are permanent. You may have to wait a while, but once the dead fat cells are gone, they won’t come back. You should maintain a healthy diet and work out to reduce the chance of new fat forming.

Is there any way to speed up CoolSculpting results?

Massage is recommended to help the results along. Many plastic surgeons also recommend drinking water to hasten results, although this is anecdotal. The good thing is that CoolSculpting procedures have no downtime. And you will get final results faster than invasive fat reduction procedures like surgery because of that.

Your new body awaits

The bottomline is it takes three to four for most people to see results from CoolSculpting. The time is takes can vary from person to person. While this is a short time in the grand scheme of your life, the results can never come soon enough. Practice patience and know that your results will come eventually.

If you are thinking about non-invasive fat reduction with CoolSculpting, it is good to know the risks before booking an appointment. Like all body contouring procedures, there are some known risks. Very few of the side effects are bad or dangerous per se, but you don’t want to walk into it blindly. This post covers all the most common side effects of CoolSculpting, along with some rare risks you should know.

Skin irritation

A bit of skin irritation is possible at the target area. When you get CoolSculpting, the pads are in contact with your skin for one hour or so, and the machine uses intense cold to kill fat cells. Because of this, some patients find their skin bothered by treatment. Skin irritation is generally mild and superficial. It is most prominent in people with sensitive skin types. You want to avoid getting treatment on areas that are already irritated. For example, skin with active psoriasis, eczema, rashes, lesions, and sunburn should not be treated to avoid further irritation. In rare cases, CoolSculpting may result in dermatitis, hives, or other mild inflammatory skin conditions.

Red skin from CoolSculpting

One of the most common side effects of CoolSculpting is redness at the treatment site. The extreme cold that is used is the culprit. Think of putting an ice cube on your skin. You will notice the skin becomes a bit red after a while. The pressure from the pads can also cause redness. Your skin will look most red right after treatment, but it should go down quite a bit on the first day. Prolonged redness is uncommon, but should subside totally in three to eleven days for most people. Again, this is usually quite mild.

Is CoolSculpting painful?

Not really, but there are a few things to know. When you get the treatment, the fat that is getting treated will be placed between two very cold pads. During the session, you may feel a tugging or pulling sensation at the treatment site. It can be a little uncomfortable, but usually not too bad for most people. Some people report that it can be a bit painful, but manageable. Of course, everyone has a different pain tolerance. The treatment usually lasts one or two hours.

Some patients also report mild stinging during treatment due to the intense cold. Don’t worry — the freezing temperatures are not dangerous. Your skin might get cold, but you don’t have to fear frostbite from the treatment.

Mild stinging and aches usually last two weeks or less. Tingling and numbness are also possible. It can be a bit bothersome for some people, but it is nothing to worry about. For the vast majority of patients, it goes away in 3-11 days on its own.

CoolSculpting downtime

Your healthcare professional should make sure to advise you of the downtime of any procedure before starting treatment. Luckily, with CoolSculpting there is no downtime. It is an outpatient procedure, and you can usually return to work right after. Most of the side effects are simply cosmetic. Plus, the treatment site can be easily hidden with clothes in the event of prolonged redness or bruising, which tends to be mild. That is a big bonus compared to cosmetic surgery for fat reduction.

Does CoolSculpting cause bruises?

Mild bruising is a possible side effect of CoolSculpting. The device uses suction and places the roll of fat in the treatment area between two pads. People who are more prone to bruising are most likely to experience this. For example, anemic patients are more likely to bruise. Taking iron can help anemia, which might help limit bruising. Topical witch hazel is also said to be a home remedy that is great for helping bruises go away faster. Consult with your physician before beginning any vitamin or topical treatments, both before and after the procedure.

PAH: a rare side effect

CoolSculpting is extremely safe. However, there is a very rare side effect known as paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH). PAH is a cosmetic defect that will not harm your health. It can cause a hardened area of fat. Sometimes, it is even in the shape of the CoolSculpting applicator. It can even expand in size or feel lumpy.

Luckily, this condition is very uncommon. CoolSculpt’s manufacturer reports that it occurs in just 1/4000 patients. It tends to affect men more than women. The exact cause is unknown, but it is treatable. A few months after the procedure, your plastic surgeon can use liposuction to help it go away. PAH is not dangerous, just unsightly.

Other uncommon risks

These include hyperpgimentation of the skin, prolonged pain or discomfort beyond two weeks, dryness of the mouth, and reduced tongue and lip movement (this is more common if an area near the mouth is treated, such as a double chin). Most of these have been reported anecdotally. Symptoms tend to be mild. These effects are considered rare. Most people who get treated will not experience these problems. However, as with all cosmetic procedures, it is still possible you could face an uncommon side effect.

So, is CoolSculpting safe?

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CoolSculpting is a safe procedure. There are no known major health risks. Most of CoolSculpting side effects are cosmetic. They usually disappear on their own within a few days to two weeks of treatment. It is FDA approved to reduce unwanted fat cells in the treated area. The FDA is a stringent government agency. The fact that they approve it for fat freezing should make you feel confident that your health will not suffer when you get a CoolSculpting procedure. Compared to other body contouring methods, it is one of the procedures that carries the lowest risks of side effects. Make sure to go to a highly-trained professional for treatment.

If you are pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant, you probably know there are a lot of things you can’t do. You’ve already said goodbye to eating sushi, drinking wine, and coloring your hair. But what about CoolSculpting? Read on to learn more before you book that appointment.

Pregnancy changes your body in many ways. One common change is excess fat buildup. Many women, especially those who have had children, find themselves searching for fat-busting procedures. There are many treatments you can try, including fat freezing with CoolSculpting. It has been very popular for the last ten years to get rid of small amounts of body fat. But is CoolSculpting safe if you want to have a baby? Doctor Bernard Beldholm explains.

Cryolipolysis cannot reach your internal organs

CoolSculpting is a fat-freezing technique that kills fat cells using very cold temperatures. It works in a process call cryolipolysis. This procedure uses extreme cold to freeze and destroy fat cells in the treated area. After a few weeks after treatment, the dead fat cells eventually break down and get flushed out of your system thanks to your liver. CoolSculpting is FDA approved to obliterate fat cells without killing other kinds of tissue. It works on the outermost layers of skin and fat, where the fat cells live. The device cannot reach your internal organs. That means your muscles, nerves, vascular system, internal organs, and other structures will not be affected. The bottomline is that CoolSculpting does not affect anything below the fat level. Therefore, it cannot affect your organs — and that includes your ovaries. Your ovaries, by the way, are located very deep behind several layers of abdominal wall.

CoolSculpting only targets fat cells

The machine was designed to selectively target adipose cells. It does not lower your skin temperature or any other nearby tissues in any drastic way. At most, you may notice some redness or bruising of the skin on the treatment area, but this is mild and not dangerous. The effects are quite minimal and superficial. Since CoolSculpting exclusively causes fat cells to die, you do not have to worry about it harming other types of cells. It will only affect those fat cells within the treatment area. That is good news for women wishing to become pregnant.

What if you are thinking of having babies in the future?

There is no reason to believe cryolipolysis would have any long-term health consequences to you or any of your future children. It is worth noting that cryolipolysis is not a form of radiation, so you don’t have to worry about that. CoolSculpting has been around for a decade or so. There have been no reported cases of latent health effects to date. If you are planning to have a family down the line, rest assured that there is no risk in having a CoolSculpting treatment now.

One caveat

If you get too thin, it can affect fertility. Needless to say, CoolSculpting is unlikely to make you “too thin”. A board-certified doctor would not allow that too happen. Plus, the technology is designed to remove small pockets of fat, not transform your entire body type into something different. It is more for refinement of body contours. However, if you are trying to get pregnant, losing too much weight (we are talking a dangerously low BMI here), is proven to impact fertility. CoolSculpting alone would not cause that to happen, of course. That said, if you are already very slim and you are having difficulty conceiving, you should avoid fat-loss procedures. That includes CoolSculpting.

Can I get CoolSculpting if I am pregnant, lactating, or trying to get pregnant?

Here is where things take a turn. Interestingly, it is not recommended by most practices. You might have a hard time booking that appointment. That is despite the fact that there is no evidence of CoolSculpting affecting fertility. So far, CoolSculpting has never been shown to cause infertility or losing a child related to the procedure. So, what gives? It is simply a good rule of thumb to avoid any unnecessary medical procedures when you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to have a baby. The technology has been around for some time, but most plastic surgeons find it is best to minimize patient risks by being extra cautious. A decade of use may seem like a long time, but the medical community plays it safe when it comes to your health. Longer-term studies are needed to confirm the belief that CoolSculpting won’t affect fertility. The only way to confirm that is to wait for more time to pass. However, since the treatment only affects underlying fat, is is very unlikely that any problems with infertility would arise in the future. If you are pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive, it may be more difficult to find a provider who will treat you with CoolSculpting. You should definitely seek the advice of a board-certified cosmetic surgeon if you are thinking about fat freezing.

How long do mothers have to wait to get CoolSculpting after giving birth?

As long as you aren’t lactating or actively trying to get pregnant again, there is no reason you can’t get CoolSculpting. The treatment is safe and effective after childbirth. It is a great way to refine and contour your body after baby. It is perfect for women looking to make small touch ups, because not everyone needs a total mummy makeover after giving birth. Many women love the results they get post-pregnancy. In general, most doctors say you should wait about three months after pregnancy to get CoolSculpting done. Hopefully this answered your questions about does CoolSculpting affect fertility. When diet and exercise aren’t enough, CoolSculpting treatments are an excellent choice for women seeking minimal weight loss and fat reduction on the love handles, flanks, and abdomen. Infertility is not one of the side effects of CoolSculpting.
